If HGTV has taught us anything, it’s that everyone loves a before and after. While most home improvement blogs focus on existing structures, we’ll be giving you an inside look at what the home building process is like from the perspective of a Carolina Cottage Company homeowner.
Kicking off the Our Home series are Annabel and Justin. He’s a native of nearby Henderson and she’s called Jacksonville, Fla. and Charleston, S.C. home. Their Carolina Cottage Company home will be this Millennial couple’s first.
Whether it’s a suburban single family house or a condo with a million-dollar view of downtown, everyone dreams of owning a home. We all want a place to call our ours. Back in December, we took the first step toward realizing our dream by signing with Carolina Cottage Company. We couldn’t be more excited to build our first home!
Q&A with Annabel & Justin
What attracted you to East College Park?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie, a sportsfan, a culture snob or a mixture of all three. Raleigh has something for everyone. Building our home in East College Park grants us access to everything downtown Raleigh has to offer without sacrificing the established neighborhood feel we wanted. Plus, you can’t beat East College Park’s proximity to places like Oakwood Pizza Box, Transfer Co. Food Hall, the Pour House and the Ritz.
Why Carolina Cottage?
We selected Carolina Cottage Company to build our home for two reasons: the floor plan designs and the initial meetings we had with Keith, one of the co-founders.
We really loved the designs of Carolina Cottage Company’s floor plans—and we couldn’t believe the quality of the home we’d be getting for the price. Second, Keith is the type of person we wanted to work with on this project. As first-time homeowners, we wanted a builder that was communicative, honest, and experienced. It didn’t take more than our first few meetings to know that Keith and his crew were the right ones for the job.
Where are you in the home-building process?
Still at the beginning! We’ve selected our floor plan (the Ryan) and provided Carolina Cottage Company with our top lot preferences. We should know our future address within the next few weeks and break ground sometime in June!
